Long Term Care Services
Carl is a happily married man who is a retired mechanic. He has spent the last three years taking care of his wife Evelyn, whose health has been declining. She can no longer walk or provide care for herselfand her memory is very poor. Evelyn and Carl lost their only daughter to cancer a year ago. Carl is having more difficulty helping Evelyn get around and fears leaving the house to shop as she fell the last time he was out.
Carl has some medical problems of his own so at his recent physical exam, the doctor suggested that Carl look into finding a nursing facility for Evelyn.
The doctor gave Carl a list of local facilities he thought would be able to provide the appropriate care for Evelyn. After visiting several, Carl decided on a nice facility that was close to his home. The nurses were very nice and it was easy for all of her loved ones and church members to come to visit.

Rehabilitation Services
Maude is an active volunteer in her community. She goes to her church each Wednesday to prepare meals to deliver to others who are homebound. On her way out her front door, she tripped on the area rug and fell on her right side. She was able to call her daughter next door who called the ambulance. After she arrived at the hospital, she discovered that she had broken her hip and it needed to be surgically repaired. The operation went well but she was in a lot of pain and couldn't walk on her own yet. The doctor recomended that she go to a nursing facility for short term rehabilitation. One of her friends from her church gave her the name of a facility she had stayed in when she had broken her ankle. Maude arranged with the doctor to go to the nursing facility. She received both physical and occupational therapy and was walking well in less than 2 weeks.

Respite Services
Amy and her husband Cliff have been caring for Amy's mother Edna in their home. When Cliff is at work, Amy provides all Edna's personal care, meals and keeps her company.
At work, Cliff is going to receive an award from his company but the awards ceremony is in Seattle. They have no one close to help with Amy's mother who will provide all the same things that Amy usually does. When Amy , Cliff and Edna are at church, Amy mentions this to a fellow church member who suggests checking into one of the local nursing facilities.
The facility will provide 24 hour care, meals, medication administration and activity programs. Amy places a call to the nursing facility and makes a reservation for a week. She brings her mother for a visit and stays for lunch to check out the place. Edna meets several people she knows and tells Amy and Cliff that she looks forward to her own 'little vacation'. Edna has a great time during her stay and Cliff is overjoyed to have his wife watch him recieve his award.
